Supreme Fabulosity was fortunate enough to be granted an interview with the extremely gifted Khasan Brailsford.  Khasan has danced some of the greatest entertainers in the music industry today.  He was a dancer on Beyonce’s 110 city “I Am…Tour.”  He most recently opened up the 2010 BET Awards dancing with Queen Latifah (i.e. he is the man that hands Queen Latifah her shades during her opening performance for the awards).  Currently, he is now on tour dancing with Rihanna for her “Last Girl On Earth Tour.”  Khasan is a man of many talents, and is one of the most sought after professional dancers in the industry.  Meet Khasan Brailsford:

-Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to interview with us here at Supreme Fabulosity.  Where are you from?

Khasan:  It is my pleasure to interview with you, I am a fan of your site. I am a California man, born and raised

-When did you first fall in love with dancing?

Khasan:  I decided to take on dancing during my Sophomore year of high school

-Who are some other dancer that have influenced you?

Khasan:  I have been influenced by many dancers throughout my career. Tovaris Wilson, Brian Friedman, Mia Michaels, Frank Gatson, Jamie King…just to name a few

-Many dancers say that dancing is a form of expression, what does dancing mean to you?

Khasan:  I agree. One of the most basic motives of dancing is the expression and communication of emotion.

-What was your first audition as a professional dancer, and can you tell us about how it all went down?

Khasan:  My first audition was for Nike, I made it to the very end, got put on hold for the job, but eventually got released..lol…It was a very exciting process, and I was happy to at least be considered

-When was that moment that you realized that you have made it in the entertainment industry as a professional dancer, and that you can make a career from this profession?

Khasan:  I knew that this was going to be my career as soon as I dropped everything else I had going on in order to pursue it. Failing wasnt an option

-You’ve danced for Beyonce, who is considered the biggest star in the world at the moment, on her world “I Am” tour.  What was that whole experience like?

Khasan:  That was such an amazing experience. It was definitely a pleasure and a challenge sharing the stage with such a great performer. It is such a rush when you look out into a sea of over 50,000 bodies while you are on stage

-Being on a world tour, you get to see some amazing places in various countries, what were/are you favorite places to visit when you are on tour?

Khasan:  It is always tough to pick a favorite place, but at the top of my list is Brazil, Greece, Egypt and Israel

-Has there ever been a time when you were on stage and got injured, and kept going on with the show?

Khasan:  There have definitely been times where I have done shows injured or extremely sick. But as a professional, you have to push through and somehow make it work

-On average, when you are on a tour, how many hours a day do you guys spend rehearsing for a tour?

Khasan:  Normally when we first begin rehearsals in the dance studio, we will have 9 hour rehearsal days. But once we began rehearsing on the stage there is rarely a time when we are there less than 12 hours.

-Your physique is amazing. How do you stay in shape?

Khasan:  Thank you, it takes a lot of discipline and hard work. When I am home I work out 5 times a week with my trainer John Grohol, he is no joke. When I am on the road I either go to the gym in the hotel, workout in my room, or do Insanity or P90X with the other dancers

-You are now on tour with Rihanna for her “Last Girl on Earth” tour, how is that going?

Khasan:  The tour is going great. We are currently on our second leg of the tour which is in the US. I love the show and everyone I work with, we are like one big family

-Being on the road can be tough at times, especially in this business, how do you stay level-headed and grounded?

Khasan:  I have a really close relationship with my family, so that definitely keeps me humble

-What is one of your favorite memories on tour?

Khasan:  Last month I was fortunate enough to go to Jerusalem and the dead sea. It was such an amazing experience for me

-What is the first thing you are thinking when you are about to hit the stage?

Khasan:  Everynight on my way from the dressing room to the stage I am hoping I dont have any costume malfunctions or randomly forget the choreography, especially after having days off; and right before I go on stage I make sure my fly is zipped..lol

-Give us three words that describe your personality.

Khasan:  Driven, Optimistic, Friendly

-In your opinion, what makes a great dancer?

Khasan:  In my opinion, a great dancer is one that can adapt and is passionate about constantly growing as an artist

-What is the one thing you cannot live without while you are on tour?

Khasan:  Internet, red bulls, and protein shakes…dont ask why

-We know that you just got finished opening up the 2010 BET Awards, what was that experience like?

Khasan:  Working with Queen Latifah was great, she brings a great energy when she walked in the room, and I had been really wanting to work with the choreographer Eboni Nichols, so it was nice that the timing worked out perfectly

-We know you will be on tour with Rihanna, what else do you have in store for the rest of 2010 going into 2011?

Khasan:  As you know, this industry is so unpredictable, so it is really hard to say. But I do have some really exciting opportunities that I am waiting to see if my schedule will allow me to take part in.

*Editor’s note: Khasan will  be headed to Austrailia in February 2011 for more tour dates!
